Thanks to the volcanic ash Kevin retrieved from Hawaii, he was able to refine a special pier that cleared Olivia’s lungs and jolted her awake. Kevin was relieved, but Olivia reminded him that they had no time to waste. With the epic clash just a few days away, Kevin had to find somewhere else to train, and fast.

During his car ride home from the hospital, Kevin continued to brainstorm where he might be able to continue his training. Maybe the Healing Arts School has some extra space I can borrow. After thinking it through, Kevin shook his head and silently answered his own question.

No, the Healing Arts School is committed to just that, the healing arts. The last thing they’d want is a fighting gym on their campus. I’ll have to think of something else.

Kevin looked out the window and saw a towering skyscraper with the Ford Lease sign propped up in front of the entrance. Hmm, that could work, but it would take at least a few days to fully set up the gym and I don’t have time for that. If I’m going to be prepared for the epic clash, I need to start training ASAP.

When the car pulled up in front of Kevin’s apartment building, he still hadn’t thought of a solution. He stepped out of the car with a sigh. Something will come to me.

I just have to be patient. Stepping into his lavish penthouse, Lily was a welcome sight to Kevin. Relaxing on the sofa with a book, she glanced over her shoulder and smiled.

Hey Kevin, how is Olivia doing? Kevin walked over and gave her a kiss. She’s going to make a full recovery, but now I’ve got another problem to deal with. Out of the frying pan and into the fire as they say.

Kevin sat down beside her and took a deep breath. Per her usual, Lily did all she could to support him. What’s happened? Tell me about it.

Kevin answered as Lily stroked her fingers through his hair. Well, as you know, my fighting gym is nothing more than a pile of ashes now thanks to Mario and Ethan, which means I need to find somewhere else to train, but I’m having trouble figuring out where I should go. Hmm.

Well, it isn’t ideal, but maybe I could convince Rachel to free up some space at the hotel. Kevin chuckled. You’re sweet to say that Lily, but the Radiance and I would tear that place up in less than a single fight.

We need somewhere with padded reinforced walls designed specifically for training. Lily let out a soft whimper. I’m sorry, Kevin.

I wish I could be of more help. Don’t be sorry. Kevin said, lifting her chin.

You being here to support me is all the help I need. Don’t worry. I know I’ll think of something.

Just then Kevin glanced out the window and saw a motionless figure standing outside of his balcony. Just stay here and relax. All right, I’m going to get some fresh air to clear my head with a gentle nod.

Lily returned to her book as Kevin got up and stepped outside, leaning against the railing. The Night King peered over the city with a stoic contemplative expression. So in need of a new place to train, are you? Kevin joined him by the railing and nodded.

Yes. And I’m getting pretty desperate, too. If I don’t find somewhere soon, I won’t stand a chance in the epic clash.

The Night King glanced at Kevin and then returned his gaze to the city. The Myriads have a new compound in Nashville. It could be the perfect place.

Kevin took a moment to stew on the idea. The Myriads are tricky. Their leader, Brett Stewart, will probably welcome me in, but not for free.

Favors are always conditional with him. They’ll definitely want something in return. The Night King was slow to answer.

He stroked his chin, lost in thought. True. But I don’t see any other options, do you? No, Kevin replied.

I don’t. Staring into the distance, Kevin saw the scorched remains of his old building. Windows were smashed, entire floors missing, and the whole thing was speckled with ash.

This is all Mario and Ethan’s fault. If they hadn’t burned down my building, we wouldn’t be in this mess. The Night King looked at Kevin with a raised eyebrow.

True. But it does no good to shake our fists at the past. What’s done is done, and all we can do now is set our sights on repairing the future.

Go to Nashville, Kevin. The next leg of your journey begins there. When Kevin finally pulled his eyes off the burnt building, the Night King had already vanished.

Heeding his advice, Kevin stopped focusing on the past and accepted what he had to do next. I can’t waste any more time. I’ll hop on a plane right away.

As he stepped back inside, Lily looked up at Kevin with inquisitive eyes. Well, any ideas? Kevin nodded as he went into the bedroom and started to pack up a suitcase. Lily followed.

I’m going to Nashville to train at the new Myriad compound. They’ll probably want something in return, but at this point, I don’t have a chance. Lily felt a slight pang of disappointment dash through her heart, but her support for Kevin was unconditional.

I understand. Just promise me you’ll be careful, all right? The last thing you need is to make more enemies. Kevin chuckled as he zipped up the filled suitcase.

I’ll do my best. Oh, and one more thing. My Charities Gala is coming up.

You can’t miss it, Kevin. It’s going to be amazing. Nicole Sawyer is going to be there.

Kevin wrapped his hand around the back of Lily’s head and gently scratched the nape of her neck. I wouldn’t miss it for the world, darling. Don’t worry.

I’ll be back in time, I promise. With that, they kissed farewell and Kevin headed out the door. And don’t forget to call me every now and then.

Later that afternoon, Kevin landed in Nashville and took a private car to the Myriad compound. It was located on the outskirts of the city, tucked away in a forest at the end of a long, dirt road. Brett Stewart’s office was on the top floor of a sleek building, with a window that overlooked the front entrance.

Gazing down from above, he saw a car pull up and watched as Kevin stepped out of it. Well, well, well. What do we have here? The most famous herbalist in all of Chicago has come to Nashville.

This ought to be interesting. The moment Kevin stepped out of the car, two guards rushed toward him with pointed swords. Stop right there.

This compound is private property. It’s off-limits to the public. Turn back now or we’ll be forced to attack.

Kevin could sense that their power bases were highly cultivated, but still weaker than his own. If he wanted to, he could easily defeat them. But not wanting to get off on the wrong foot, he raised his hands and complied.

I don’t want any trouble. My name is Kevin Williams, and I’m a friend of Brett Stewart. Can one of you go and get him for me? The two guards looked at each other and sneered.

We don’t care who you are. We have strict orders to not allow anyone inside. No exceptions.

Just as they were about to charge forward and attack, a loud voice echoed out from inside. Boys, boys, please, don’t you know a legend when you see one? This man is one of the best herbalists in the entire world, and what you might not realize is that he’s an enforcer in the myriads and outranks you. Challenging Kevin Williams to a battle would be highly unwise.

You could only hope to match his power levels one day. Brett Stewart had to make it clear to his underlings that Kevin was an honored guest at their compound. After all, Brett knew that much of his success was owed to his old friend’s support.

After berating his underlings, he gave Kevin his charismatic smile. Hello, Kevin. It’s wonderful to see you again.

Brett’s sentiments were genuine, and even the guards now saw that Kevin was no threat to the myriads. He was an exalted member of a high rank. The guards lowered their swords and returned to their posts.

Pretty well-fortified place you got here, Kevin said. Is this how you treat all your visitors? Brett chuckled. You can never be too careful.

You of all people should know how important it is to make sure your base is well defended. Kevin raised an eyebrow. What do you mean by that? I heard about the tragic fire that took out your building.

Such a shame, really. I’m terribly sorry for your loss, Kevin. I hope no one was hurt.

Brett’s voice had a sincere, apologetic tone. Kevin crossed his arms and got straight down to business. Well, if you know about the fire, then I bet you can guess why I’m here.

Brett nodded his head with a slight grin. Of course. You’re looking for a new place to train, are you not? With the epic clash coming up, you’re going to need all the practice you can get.

Well then, what do you say? Kevin asked. Will you allow me to train in your gym? Brett threw out his arms in a gesture of welcome. Of course you can.

You’re welcome here anytime, Kevin. You know that. Kevin wasn’t buying it.

What’s the catch? No catch, Brett replied. Although it is common courtesy for friends to help each other out when they get the chance. I wonder, how is it that you may be able to help us, Kevin? What do you want? Kevin asked impatiently.

Brett responded with a laugh. No need to put such a fine point on it, Kevin. This isn’t a negotiation.

It’s just two friends considering how they might be able to help each other. Hey, I know. Why don’t you lend us some of those renowned herbalist skills of yours? We could really use a few of those power pills of yours.

Kevin was hesitant to start handing out power pills. With such incredible power, the pills came with enormous responsibility, and Kevin couldn’t trust them in the hands of just anyone. And if I refuse? Well, by refusing, you’d be signaling to me that we aren’t such good friends after all, and I’m afraid I’d have no choice but to ask you to leave.

But I really, really don’t want to do that, Kevin. So what do you say? Can’t we come to some kind of friendly agreement? Kevin took a deep breath and weighed out his options. With the epic clash just days away, he really didn’t have much of a choice but to agree to Brett’s terms.

Even though Kevin did make a mental note that Brett seemed to be forgetting that his position as the head of the Myriads came about thanks to a great degree to Kevin’s intervention, Kevin hoped that this was just a temporary lapse on Brett’s part. Fine. I’ll see what I can do.

But only after the epic clash. I can’t afford to waste any more time. Brett smiled and clapped his hands together.

Wonderful. I’m glad we’re such close friends, Kevin. That’s what friends do, you know.

They help each other out. Now come with me and I’ll show you around. Kevin barely had time for a tour of the Myriads’ new compound.

The epic clash was no more than a few days away, and the fate of Kevin’s empire depended upon his success in it. Every moment wasted could push him and his family toward catastrophe.
