Insta Empire Episode 711 – A Pirate’s Life For Me

The only one to prepare accordingly for the underwater round, Kevin was able to explore the coral reef before anyone else. He saw that the area was too shallow to contain any deep-sea starfish, the special item he had to retrieve to advance to the next round. But a sunken treasure chest inside a shipwreck caught his attention.

After collecting a gold coin from the chest, he was attacked by a school of hammerhead sharks. By the time Kevin realized something was behind him, it was already too late. The giant hammerhead snapped its jaws shut, swallowing Kevin whole.

Kevin’s heart skipped a beat as the world around him went dark, and to make matters worse, his next breath filled his lungs with water. Oh God, the pill is wearing off, as if the situation could get any worse. As the slimy walls of the shark’s stomach started to close around him, Kevin reached for his sword and stabbed outward.

He heard the shark groan as a small pinprick of light filtered in from the wound. Well, this isn’t going to be pretty. Like cutting through a steak, Kevin used his sword to saw through the shark.

A cloud of blood blocked his sight and his lungs were crying for air. But finally, he carved out enough to slip through and pull himself out. There was no time to waste.

As Kevin rocketed to the surface, he looked down and saw the shark’s body sinking lower and lower, until it disappeared into deep blue water. Just as his lungs were about to give out, Kevin broke through the surface and gasped for air. Kevin, there you are.

Find anything interesting down there? Kevin looked up and saw Mario standing at the edge of a wooden dock, connected to a beautiful tropical island. After catching his breath, Kevin shouted, If you had been clever enough to solve the clue, you would have been able to see what’s down there yourself. I’m not telling you anything.

Mario snorted. Not like it matters anyway. While you were down there wasting your time, the rest of us got a head start.

We’ll have this ship out of here in no time. Docked beside the pier was an enormous ship that looked very much like the sunken one Kevin had just escaped from. Glancing down the seashore, Kevin saw ten more piers with the same kind of ships stationed at each one.

A ship like that is exactly what I need, Kevin thought. The deep-sea starfish are located at least a couple of hundred miles offshore. After swimming up to the beach, Kevin went to the next pier over, away from Mario.

Walked to the edge to investigate the ship. A group of contestants was already on the ship searching it up and down. Kevin approached and asked the closest contestant what they were up to.

What’s stopping you from setting sail? Number 57 turned over her shoulder and sighed. The boats are chained up to the dock by this device here. She pointed to an iron weight that was attached to the boat with heavy chains, preventing it from leaving the dock.

We’ve been trying to unhook it for hours, but nothing is working. Some of our teammates just finally gathered enough ingredients to refine an underwater breathing pill, so we’re hoping we’ll find something useful under the surface. There were only ten boats.

With 79 of us, that’s eight people per ship. Kevin scratched his chin and considered how to continue. Any leads? He asked.

Number 57 nodded. Just one. There’s a coin slot propped up right next to the steering wheel, so some of us think we have to find a coin for it.

We’ve searched the island up and down but couldn’t find anything. Some of us have a slightly different strategy. When she pointed at the pier next to theirs, Kevin saw Mario and his team hacking away at the iron chains with heavy stones and weapons.

They’ve been at it for hours, but I don’t think it’s going to work. Just then, Kevin remembered the piece of pirate gold he retrieved from the shipwreck. Coin slot, you say? Let me have a look at it.

I may have just the thing. Number 57 led Kevin to the steering wheel and pointed out the coin slot just beside it. She gasped when Kevin pulled the gold coin out of his pocket.

That’s perfect! Put it in and see if it works! When Kevin held the coin up to the slot, it was a perfect fit. After rolling right in, they heard a loud snapping noise as the metal chains came loose and released the ship. At the same time, the ship’s sails dropped from the mass and began to flap in the wind.

After hearing the commotion, Mario looked over and cursed under his breath. All right, everyone, new strategy! We have to get onto that ship! Captured on camera, the audience tuning in went wild when the sails dropped. They had known all along what it took to release the ships and were thrilled to finally see someone accomplish it.

Filled with joy, Number 57 grabbed Kevin’s arms. Will you please let my group come with you? You’re going to need a crew. Plus, we’ve already gathered enough ingredients to make at least a couple dozen underwater breathing pills.

If you let us come with you, we’ll give you the lion’s share. Kevin smiled. He was freshly out of underwater breathing pills, so the trade was perfect.

Sounds fair to me. As the rest of his crew rushed to raise the anchor and redirect the sails, Kevin stepped behind the wheel of the ship and felt a cool, tropical breeze blow through his hair. Just then, a familiar voice called out from the dock.

Hey, Kevin, room for one more? Kevin glanced over his shoulder and saw Mason running up the pier. Despite the tension between them, Kevin was still happy to see him. I thought you were against working in teams.

Mason shrugged his shoulders. Well, seeing as there are only ten boats, I figure I don’t have a choice. I’m still going to beat you to the number one spot if that’s what you’re thinking.

This would only be a temporary situation. Kevin pondered it for a moment. Maybe if he and Mason spent more time together, he would eventually come to a side.

After a deep breath, Kevin looked back at him and smiled. Do you know how to swab the deck? Mason laughed. I’m sure I can figure it out.

Kevin nodded. Then, welcome aboard. Yes! Mason hopped aboard just as the ship was leaving the dock.

At the same time, another contestant burst out of the water with a golden coin raised high in her hand. I found it! I found a coin for the slot! Her teammates cheered, but Kevin sharpened his gaze with a slight frown. Looks like the cat’s been let out of the bag.

People will be gaining on us in no time. We have to get out of here ASAP. As the crew pitched the sails in just the right direction, the wind took hold and began to blow them out to sea.

Meanwhile, the cameras were picking up something that Kevin and his crewmates couldn’t see. Mario and a group of his teammates were climbing up the back of the ship, pulling themselves up a rope they had lassoed to the stern. They slipped aboard unnoticed, quietly snuck below deck and hid inside a collection of empty barrels.

We hide here for now, and when I say the time is right, we strike. Got it? A chorus of whispers responded to Mario’s orders. Got it, boss.

Later that evening, just as the sun was setting, Kevin and his crew were resting below deck. The ship had come fully stocked with food, water, and supplies, so one of the crew members had whipped up a seafood stew, and they were all armed with swords. There was also an herbalist station on board, so the crew was able to refine some fresh underwater breathing pills.

Spread out on the table in front of Kevin was a map of the vast area surrounding them. With a feather pen he had found in the captain’s quarters, Kevin reached for the middle of the map and drew a big red X. This is where we have to go. The deepest point in the sea, Burton’s Trench.

We’ll find deep-sea starfishes there for sure. Number 57, who had identified herself as Mindy, crossed her arms with a worried look. It looks like the trench is over 6,000 feet deep.

I’m not sure our bodies could withstand the pressure. Another crew member, Number 17, chimed in. There’s a pill for that, actually.

We’ll just have to catch some tortoiseshell lobsters. I think I saw some crab catchers below the deck. That ought to do the trick.

Kevin shook his head. Even with the pressure pills, the underwater breathing pills might not give us enough time to reach all the way down there. Maybe we could build some kind of submarine.

Mindy scoffed. With what? This ship looks a hundred years old. Kevin stayed calm and composed.

We haven’t even explored a fraction of the map yet. There could be an island nearby with building materials. Mindy shook her head.

I doubt it. Kevin was in no mood to argue. Well, let’s sleep on it then.

I’m going to go above deck for some fresh air. Just then, Mario and his crew emerged from the shadows below deck, all armed with swords. As Kevin and his crew drew their swords, the situation quickly turned into a tense standoff.

Mario chuckled and pointed his sword directly at Kevin’s throat. Hello, Captain Williams. This here’s a mutiny.
